Buyers News

October, 2004

October finds New Zealand with a full range of product on offer.

We are currently still in our cymbidium season and indications are that it will run through into December, so keep placing those cymbidium orders please. The miniature cymbidiums have finished producing but still a good supply of the standard size available in all colours. There is a limited supply of the extremely popular fall colours so early orders are best. We are delighted with the positive response this season to our larger "100 bloom" box, thanks for all the orders this year to date.

Two crops that are just getting underway are the callas (or mini callas as our North American friends prefer to call them) and the peonies.

The New Zealand calla industry continues to lead with new varieties, and one of the most exciting must be the deep purple, some may call it black, variety Hot Chocolate. Bred in New Zealand this flower will be on display in the New products section at Floral Expo 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of this month. Other popular varieties such as the orange "Mango" and Treasure, the red Majestic Red, and the gold Florex Gold will all be available again - plus a host of other varieties and colours.

Also on display in Atlanta will be the Bromeliad "Red Dragon" - a cut flower bromeliad bred in New Zealand. With a long vase life - up to 4 weeks - and a long supply period - November to May - this is an exciting new cut flower that will excite florists around the world.

And our world beating peonies will be available October through until December. Available in red, pink, white, and coral these exquisite flowers are in high demand and again early orders are recommended.

Starting in December will be our hydrangeas - available in blue and white initially we will then add in pinks and reds and greens and eventually the "antiques" will be available, usually around March.

For these and other varieties of flowers we welcome the opportunity to supply wholesalers and importers around the world, please contact us for price list.
